The Suburb

Canberra is the capital city of Australia. Founded following the federation of the colonies of Australia as the seat of government for the new nation, it is Australia’s largest inland city and the eighth-largest city overall. The city is located at the northern end of the Australian Capital Territory; 280 km (170 mi) south-west of Sydney and 660 km (410 mi) north-east of Melbourne.

It is unusual among Australian cities, being an entirely planned city outside of any state, similar to Washington, D.C. in the United States or Brasília in Brazil. Following an international contest for the city’s design, a blueprint by American architects Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin was selected and construction commenced in 1913.[11] The Griffins’ plan featured geometric motifs such as circles, hexagons and triangles, and was centred on axes aligned with significant topographical landmarks in the Australian Capital Territory. The city’s design was influenced by the garden city movement and incorporates significant areas of natural vegetation.

What We Did

With the opening of the new cafe, Nextrend Furniture was engaged to provide all weather outdoor furniture for the cafe.  With Canberra sweltering in Summer and freezing in winter, the furniture needed to be able to withstand all mother nature could throw at it.  Our Vita Chairs were selected to provide comfortable seating to the cafe’s alfresco diners.  These were then matched with Roma Table Bases.

Alivio Tourist Park

The Client

Alivio Tourist Park is situated at 20 Kunzea St, O’Connor ACT 2602. Only 4kms from the Canberra Centre, the park is surrounded by bushland with great facilities and lots of accommodation options.

 The Suburb

O’Connor is a suburb of Canberra, Australia in the North Canberra district. It was named after Richard Edward O’Connor (1851–1912), who was a judge in the High Court and a founder of the Australian constitution. Street names in O’Connor are named after explorers, Australian flora, legislators and pioneers. The suburb name was gazetted on 20 September 1928.

What We Did

The pool area at Alivio Tourist Park was lacking in quality furniture surrounding the pool.  As the space was quite large there was the option to provide a variety of seating types.  As a result we provided lounges and sun loungers to relax by the pool side, which were accompanied by side tables to hold your poolside drinks.  We also provided matching chairs and tables.
